I really don't get all the sackcloth and ashes, misery and moaning I've read in this thread.
(1) Guild Wars is still fun to play
(2) I am not bored of it -- not by a long shot
(3) I am looking forward to GW2, but I have plenty to do in the meantime
(4) If I do get bored of GW, there are other games out there with which to bide my time
(5) The ArenaNet folks are smart enough to know what works in GW now and what improvements would make the game even better
The one suggestion I read a few posts back that I thought was really worth considering would be for ArenaNet to make some of the high-end content more accessible for solo play. As the GW population continues to thin (and it will, I suppose), this might be a good idea.
If you're not happy in the game, then, seriously, play something else.
Guild Wars is not perfect, but it has come closer by far than any other game to what I want to play. Even if GW2 ends up being more WoW-like (as some fear), I have no doubt it will still be far better than WoW. I am greatly looking forward to GW2 and optimistic about the future of the franchise.

This is how I've been feeling lately, too. So many people bitch and complain about things yet they're still playing. If you hate it so much, find something else that you don't hate as much....

Titles mark achievements, they are a way to give props to people who grind (which isn't necessarily bad ), just because everyone has a low rank title(Ex. 1st rank of Explorer) doesn’t mean the titles prestige has degraded.

Yes, I play. In fact, I played for about 45 hours over the 4-day Thanksgiving weekend. I don't really know what my play hours or /age has to do with it, but there ya go.

Very true. Your account is safe with us -- we will welcome you back any time, and in the meantime, we're not draining your credit card with monthly fees if you choose to go and play another game.

Care to ever comment on the constant nerfing or is it a case of sticking on the blackout glasses again?

The sales for each of the campaigns and for the expansion pack continue at a nice pace. The game is well populated. Guilds continue to thrive. Players continue to make remarkable achievements. Press continues to be very interested in the game, and supportive of the franchise. All really is well. Oh, and the server capacity is just fine for Guild Wars and will be just as fine for Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 -- don't worry about that! Lastly, I just wanted to note that we do continue to support our $100,000 tournament with more prizes for more players than ever before. (And btw, we're buying those prizes -- few are provided for free by sponsors -- so yes, that's a sign of a sustained support and investment from the company on that level as well.) We will continue with that support into the future, assuring meaningful real-world prizes for the exceptional player.
I shouldn't have to say these things, I'm sure you all know everything above already. But every now and then, I guess it doesn't hurt to try to reason with the gloom 'n' doomers, or at least give the majority of folks a reassurance that they probably don't even need.

My monitor must need a good cleaning then from what I see as for speaking of guilds I hear an abundance of in active guilds and observer mode has become boring lately..When will you finally get rid of all the nerfed areas to put some fun back in the game.I hear a lot of GW player in LoTR these days. Then there is question with all the bugs in game as it is now npcs sounding like Sins and behaving differently.

Ive already left GW and will possibly return if they ever allow 7 heroes. HM is NOT fun with henchmen.
I play maple story now. A game full of level grinding is more fun then this crap one. Oh, it wasnt always crap, stupid changes made it crap.

You only answered half the question so I'll ask it in a different way.
Weve established that you play the game but the question is do you and the rest of the team take time to really look at how the games communities are responding to aspects of the game, do you do regular community discussions with people that arent just PvP'rs. An example could be a large group stressing the need to have grind absent from GW:EN but it was done anyway. It really does look like there is no interest taken in any of the actual players who have bought the game, if you prove me wrong which I hope you do then it'll be fine but I cant see anyway you can.

Hop on the bandwagon for ditching GW everyone!
Ill still be playing GW1 by the time 2 comes out, its what got me into the whole series and in ditching it, I would ditch all the good memories I have.
95% its gonna be a WoW clone..

Ironically, it's more likely that Guild Wars 1 will kill Guild Wars 2.
After you get in a train wreck, do you ride the train again right away?

I dunno what you're talking about, but at least I'm in a guild of at least 90 with about 50% of the people who have logged in in the past 3 days and the other 50% are around 1 week. And no one cares about observer mode lol.

I read the story on the wiki, and I was really disappointed. Everywhere that we came to love and associate with in GW1 was destroyed, and everything we fought for essentially no longer exists. It made me a little trepidant about GW2, but I'm still going to buy it. I'm just going to try to think of it as a brand new game, rather than as a continuum of the GW saga. If I think of it that way,the story might not be so disappointing.

That maybe your guild how about your alliance.I know a few of alliances that are noticing downturn members offline.Who cares about observer mode maybe some of us like the entertainment of it and to see what they are using in it skill wise.I see mostly heros battles which really isn't pvp.

I think actually the sells of the game and its expansion is a little missleading. I agree that maybe even more of the expansion and campaigns are selling well, especially around this time of year, but from what i see is veterans leaving and new players coming. There is also a lot of people that i know and hear from ingame as well as on this forum talking about slowing down on GW or quiting GW for a while. That is to be expected from people who play for thousands of hours, they tend to get bored with the game.
People who have played this game for a while will continue to drop off. Many people on the forums will stop playing as well. But what we will see is a rise on new players and new forum users. But, I think its missleading because i still believe that the number of people leaving or not playing as much is greater than the new people joining in on GW. Also take in consideration of the 4 million copies sold, how many of them are bots, how many people own more than one account, how many people own the 3 campaigns and expansion ?
IMO i think they used GWEN as a marketing tool to bring in other people from other online games, appealing to the nature of a traditional MMO. The majority of players in this year have all turned casual, a new generation of players. 5-10 years ago gamers were generally hardcore in majority. Keeping forum, hardcore, fanboy players happy all the time is not required anymore from any game company. All they have to do is generally appeal their product to the masses and sell.
I have slowed my activity as well from playing everyday for 6-10 hours, to probaly playing 2-3 hours over 2-3 days. GW1 is not dead, just dead to the people who have been here a while. GW2 will not kill GW1 unless the HoM rewards are pathetic, UNLESS GW2 is a total goose egg and fails.
